Axar’s All-Round Magic: India Clinches 48-Run Victory Over Australia in 4th T20I
India delivered a dominant bowling performance to secure a 48-run victory over Australia in the fourth T20 International on Thursday in Carrara, taking a decisive 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
Key to India’s win were Axar Patel and Shivam Dube, who both claimed two crucial wickets, disrupting Australia’s run chase significantly.

Washington Sundar also contributed by taking three wickets late in the game, helping India defend a total of 167 as Australia succumbed for 119 in 18.2 overs, despite being at a promising 91 for three at one point.
The series will conclude with the final T20I match in Brisbane on November 8.
Australian openers Matthew Short (25 off 19) and Mitchell Marsh (30 off 24) began the innings well, but a string of quick wickets in the middle overs dashed the host’s hopes.
After Axar dismissed Short in the PowerPlay, Dube made significant inroads by removing both Marsh and Tim David (14 off 9), the latter surprised by a short delivery.
Arshdeep Singh also took a wicket during the middle overs, while Varun Chakaravarthy bowled Glenn Maxwell, further sealing Australia’s fate.
This bowling success followed a modest batting performance from India. Despite a strong start, posting 56 for the opening wicket between Abhishek Sharma (28 off 21) and Shubman Gill (46 off 39), India concluded with 167 for eight.
Dube, promoted to number three, added 22 runs off 18 balls, while captain Suryakumar Yadav scored 20 off 10 balls before being dismissed.
Pacer Nathan Ellis stood out among Australian bowlers with figures of 3/21 from four overs. Conversely, Adam Zampa conceded 45 runs in his four overs, but managed to claim three wickets, including that of the dangerous Abhishek.
Abhishek, attempting to take on Zampa, was caught at long-on after hitting him for a six. He had earlier survived a chance when Xavier Bartlett dropped a catch off Ben Dwarshuis’s bowling.
Gill struggled for fluency in his innings but managed a big six off Marcus Stoinis before falling to a slower delivery from Ellis.
Wickets fell at regular intervals afterward, hindering the innings’ momentum. However, Axar’s unbeaten 21 off 11 deliveries provided late fireworks to boost India’s total past 160.
Despite losing four wickets for 42 runs in the final five overs, India’s exceptional bowling sealed the win.
