AUS vs IND: Rain Seals India’s Series Triumph Over Australia
India secured victory in the five-match T20 International series against Australia, leading 2-1, after the fifth and final match in Brisbane was abandoned due to rain on Saturday.
India, batting first, showed an explosive start with openers Abhishek Sharma (23 not out from 13 balls) and Shubman Gill (29 not out from 16 balls) launching an aggressive offensive.
The game was interrupted by lightning with India at 52 without loss in 4.5 overs. Heavy rain soon followed at the Gabba, leading to the abandonment of the match.
Earlier in the match, Australia had opportunities to dismiss the formidable Abhishek Sharma early but failed to seize them.
Glenn Maxwell missed a straightforward catch in the first over, and Ben Dwarshuis dropped an easy catch in the fourth over when Abhishek was on 11.
Just three balls later, Abhishek thrilled Indian fans with a powerful flat six over mid-wicket.
Shubman Gill, meanwhile, targeted Dwarshuis with precision, hitting three boundaries off the left-arm pacer in the third over to maintain India’s swift start.
The series began with a washout in the first T20I, Australia winning the second match by four wickets. India, however, came back strong, claiming victories in the third and fourth games by five wickets and 48 runs, respectively.
Australia previously claimed victory in the ODI series 2-1.
