Andy Flower has been appointed as the head coach of the London Spirit men’s team with a multi-year contract. The former England coach transitions from the Trent Rockets, with whom he claimed a title in 2022 during his five-year tenure. This move coincides with new investments from a US-led tech entrepreneurs consortium for the Lord’s-based team earlier this year.

Having previously coached England from 2009 to 2014, Flower also led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to their first IPL title this year, working alongside Mo Bobat, who currently serves as Spirit’s director of cricket.

“I’m incredibly excited to join London Spirit and to work at the Home of Cricket,” expressed the 57-year-old Flower. “It’s an honor to be part of such a prestigious venue and organization. I am also thrilled to collaborate again with Mo and, for the first time, with both MCC and the Tech Titans.”

Flower takes over from Justin Langer, whose one-year stint concluded with the team finishing seventh in the eight-team competition.

“I’m thrilled that we’ve been able to secure Andy as our men’s head coach. His impressive track record in international and franchise cricket is well-documented. I’ve had a strong working relationship with Andy in the past and look forward to creating something remarkable with him at the London Spirit as we enter this new and exciting chapter,” stated Bobat.

“On behalf of everyone at London Spirit, I would like to express our gratitude to Justin Langer for his dedication and integrity during the 2025 season,” added the Spirit’s director of cricket.

The Spirit is undergoing an ownership transformation, with MCC maintaining a 51% controlling stake, while the US-based consortium Tech Titans – including Times Internet’s Satyan Gajwani, Palo Alto Networks’ Nikesh Arora, Silver Lake’s Egon Durban, and senior executives from Google, Adobe, and YouTube – holds the remaining 49%.
