Andre Fletcher Commands Top Dollar, Ashwin Overlooked at ILT20 Auction

Andre Fletcher of the West Indies captured attention at the inaugural ILT20 Auction, becoming the highest-priced player at USD 260,000. MI Emirates outbid competitors to retain the opener for the fourth consecutive season. Unexpectedly, R Ashwin went unsold, despite having a base price of USD 120,000.

England’s Scott Currie was a close contender for top bid, signing a USD 250,000 deal with Dubai Capitals. Gulf Giants invested USD 170,000 in Liam Dawson, while MI Emirates acquired Naveen-ul-Haq for USD 100,000.

UAE bowlers had a breakthrough moment, with Sharjah Warriorz using their Right-to-Match card to retain Junaid Siddique for USD 170,000, marking their priciest acquisition of the event. Muhammad Rohid was noteworthy with a USD 140,000 RTM agreement with MI Emirates, signaling a significant moment in UAE cricket history.

Desert Vipers made notable international acquisitions, securing Pakistanis Fakhar Zaman and Naseem Shah for USD 80,000 each. Abu Dhabi Knight Riders opted for Scotland’s Brandon McMullen at USD 110,000 and also added Michael Pepper, Unmukt Chand, and George Garton to their team. Faisal Khan became the first player from Saudi Arabia to join the league, signing with the Vipers for USD 10,000.

Gulf Giants completed their team roster first, enhancing their bowling lineup with Tabraiz Shamsi, Fred Klaassen, and Chris Wood. MI Emirates complemented their record signing of Fletcher by acquiring Shakib Al Hasan for USD 40,000 and Jordan Thompson from England for USD 48,000. Sharjah Warriorz made substantial moves with Dwaine Pretorius for USD 120,000 and Nathan Sowter for USD 100,000, and also secured Jayden Seales and Taskin Ahmed.

Season 4 of the ILT20 is set to commence on December 2, featuring six teams over a 34-match tournament, concluding on January 4.
