American Cricket Enterprises (ACE) has filed a lawsuit against USA Cricket (USAC) for the wrongful termination of their long-term commercial agreement. Major League Cricket announced this in a press release on Tuesday (September 16), citing USAC’s governance failures and continued bad faith.
ACE, which manages Major League Cricket (MLC) – the leading T20 league in the United States – and Minor League Cricket, a developmental league, stated it has invested over USD 150 million to enhance the game through world-class facilities and stadiums, providing American players with opportunities for international exposure.
The agreement, originally signed in 2019, was first terminated by USAC on August 21, 2025, on what ACE described as “manufactured grounds.” Although the termination was rescinded within a week, ACE now alleges that USAC has unilaterally reinstated the termination without further discussion and with immediate effect.
The press release criticized USAC’s approach, branding it “chaotic and reckless,” and accused some board directors of prioritizing personal and political interests over cricket’s growth in the U.S. ACE warned that this termination could hinder the progress of American players ahead of three significant ICC events: the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers, and the U19 World Cup.
According to the release, the dispute highlights the instability within USAC, an issue repeatedly flagged by the ICC for resolution. ACE concluded by asserting its intent to defend its rights and ensure the future of the sport in the United States.
