Abhishek Sharma Sets New Milestones in SMAT 2025-26
India’s international cricketer, Abhishek Sharma, achieved several milestones during his outstanding performance for Punjab against Bengal in an Elite Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) held in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Opening the batting alongside Prabhsimran Singh, Abhishek reached his half-century in just 12 deliveries, facing a Bengal team led by bowlers Mohammed Shami and Akash Deep.
On his way to a century, he hit seven fours and 11 sixes, maintaining an impressive strike rate exceeding 300.
### Records Set by Abhishek Sharma in the SMAT Match Against Bengal
– Abhishek completed a 12-ball fifty, marking it as the second-fastest T20 half-century by an Indian, with Ashutosh Sharma’s 11-ball 50 for Railways vs Arunachal Pradesh being the fastest.
– He reached his century in 32 balls, which is the third-fastest T20 century by an Indian player.
– The left-hander formed the highest opening partnership in SMAT history, contributing 205 runs with Prabhsimran Singh.
– He secured the second-highest individual score in SMAT history with 148 runs off 52 balls.
– Abhishek’s innings included 17 sixes, the second-most in a single SMAT match.
– His significant contribution helped Punjab achieve a total of 310, making it only the second instance of a team surpassing the 300-run mark in SMAT history. The first instance was Baroda’s 349 against Sikkim in 2023.
