The Indian women’s cricket team faced a 10% match fee penalty on Tuesday due to a slow over-rate in the third ODI against Australia.
Despite Smriti Mandhana’s impressive 125-run performance, host India lost the match by 43 runs, conceding the series 1-2 to Australia at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Saturday.
GS Lakshmi, from the ICC International Panel of Match Referees, enforced the penalty as India fell short by two overs when time allowances were considered.

“According to Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, pertaining to minimum over-rate infractions, players are fined 5% of their match fee for every over not bowled in the designated time,” stated the ICC.
“Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur admitted to the infraction and agreed to the proposed penalty, negating the need for a formal hearing,” it added.
The charge was filed by on-field umpires Lauren Agenbag and Janani Narayanan, along with third umpire Gayathri Venugopalan and fourth umpire Vrinda Rathi.
