The India women’s cricket team will don a special pink jersey for the third One-Day International against Australia in Delhi on Saturday, as announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. This initiative, in collaboration with SBI Life, aims to raise awareness about breast cancer. “Every day we train for uncertainties, and this jersey is a reminder to be prepared. Let’s make breast self-examination a monthly routine and take a stand against breast cancer,” expressed captain Harmanpreet Kaur in a video message shared by the BCCI.

Sneh Rana stated, “This pink jersey represents more than just a symbol; it’s a call to build a life-saving habit. Together, let’s fight against breast cancer and give ourselves a hug of life.”
The men’s team, in the past, has also embraced special kits and caps to support causes and honor various tributes. For instance, during an ODI against New Zealand in Visakhapatnam in 2016, players wore jerseys with their mothers’ names. In 2019, they wore camouflage caps during an ODI against Australia in Ranchi to honor the martyrs of the Indian armed forces following a terrorist attack in Pulwama.
India looks forward to marking this significant occasion with a victory. The series, acting as a final rehearsal ahead of the ODI World Cup later this month, is presently tied at 1-1.
