Women’s Power League Charges Into the New Year with Thrilling Season 4 Launch!

WOMEN’S PREMIER LEAGUE, 2025

© WPL – Mumbai Indians have claimed the title twice, while RCB has secured it once.

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) Season 4 will kick off earlier than previous editions, likely beginning in the first week of January. With a dedicated window in the women’s Future Tours Programme—akin to the Women’s Big Bash League and The Hundred for Women—it is probable that the 2026 WPL will start on January 6 or 8.

Although the exact date for the final isn’t determined, with only 22 matches, the BCCI probably won’t require more than 26-27 days, concluding the tournament by early February. The inaugural season took place from March 4 to March 26; Season 2 from February 23 to March 17, and Season 3 from February 14 to March 15.

Venue decisions are pending, leaving open the possibility of hosting matches in more locations than last year. The entire first season was held in Mumbai, the second in Bengaluru and Delhi, with the third spread across Baroda, Bengaluru, Lucknow, and Mumbai.

One of the most anticipated BCCI decisions revolves around the auction details, including date, location, salary cap, and size. A decision on a potential mega-auction, akin to the IPL, is yet to be made as opinions diverge—some advocate for changes while others prefer continuity.

The competition features five teams: Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Gujarat Giants, and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Mumbai Indians are the reigning champions and two-time winners, while RCB clinched the second season.
