Scotland Unveils Squad for 2026 T20 World Cup with Berrington at the Helm

Berrington Leads the Charge: Scotland Announces 2026 T20 World Cup Squad

Scotland has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026, which starts on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka. The team will be captained by Richie Berrington, marking Scotland’s seventh appearance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed Scotland’s participation after Bangladesh decided not to send its team to India, citing security concerns. Scotland was chosen to replace Bangladesh as it is the highest-ranked T20I team that had not originally qualified for the tournament. Currently ranked 14th, Scotland is ahead of seven other teams that qualified: Namibia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Nepal, the United States of America (USA), Canada, Oman, and Italy.

Scotland will compete in Group C alongside England, Italy, Nepal, and the West Indies. They will kick off their campaign on February 7 with a match against the West Indies at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
