Sachin Tendulkar has firmly denied any involvement in the race for the presidency of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Despite rampant speculation suggesting the cricket icon would be the board’s next president, his team has issued a statement dismissing these rumors.

“Reports and rumors indicating Mr. Sachin Tendulkar’s consideration or nomination for the position of BCCI President have come to our attention,” read the official statement. “We categorically clarify that no such development has occurred.”

Tendulkar was unavailable for comment, but his team has urged the media to halt such speculations. “We implore all to desist from giving weight to unfounded speculations,” the statement, issued by SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd., further noted.

The BCCI elections are scheduled for September 28, with voting for the positions of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. The prevailing opinion within the board is that the current secretary Devajit Saikia, joint secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai, and treasurer Prabhtej Singh Bhati will maintain their posts.

The main uncertainties lie in the roles of president and vice-president, along with the chairmanship of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rajeev Shukla is the current vice-president and may continue his involvement with the BCCI in some capacity.

Friday, September 12, marks the deadline for state associations to submit their representative names for the Annual General Meeting (AGM). This list might hint at who is contending for the major positions.
