Sudharsan Sidelined: Washington and Varun to Bolster TN Squad in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Washington and Varun Reinforce TN's Vijay Hazare Lineup Amid Sudharsan Omission

B. Sai Sudharsan, a Tamil Nadu batter, will be sidelined for several weeks due to a rib injury sustained during the Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Madhya Pradesh last week. The left-hander is currently at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru for rehabilitation. He injured himself diving to complete a run during his innings of 51, subsequently retiring hurt, returning to bat later, and being the last out in the game, which Tamil Nadu lost by two wickets.

Sudharsan, who made his Test debut last year, has played six matches for India. The 24-year-old is unlikely to return for Tamil Nadu’s remaining Ranji Trophy matches but may be fit in time to play for Gujarat Titans in the IPL.

Meanwhile, after losing three of their four matches, Tamil Nadu will gain strength from the return of Washington Sundar and Varun Chakarvarthy for their upcoming matches against Rajasthan (Saturday) and Tripura (Tuesday). The BCCI has instructed the pair to participate in these games in preparation for the white-ball series against New Zealand, set to begin on January 11, featuring three ODIs and five T20Is.
