Kapil Dev: Beyond Boundaries – Leadership and Life Lessons for the Future at PlayCom 2025

Kapil Dev, the legendary captain who led India to victory in the 1983 World Cup, is set to lead a Fireside Chat titled “Leadership & Life Beyond the Pitch” at the PlayCom 2025: Business of Sports Summit. This event, organized by The Hindu Group’s Sportstar in partnership with KPMG India, will take place at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on September 12 and 13.

Since his retirement from cricket in 1994, Kapil Dev has left a lasting impact beyond the sport. In 1995, he co-founded Dev Musco Lighting Pvt. Ltd with the American company Musco Sports Lighting LLC. Now the sole owner, Kapil has revolutionized stadium and field lighting across India, showcasing his vision for opportunity and lasting influence.

Kapil is also dedicated to promoting other sports. Last year, he became the president of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) after joining its board in 2021. He has been instrumental in launching the Kapil Dev Grant Thornton Invitational at the DLF Golf and Country Club, one of the most prestigious events on India’s golf calendar. His love for golf has also led him to participate in international pro-am tournaments like the Dunhill Links alongside global celebrities.

Kapil’s session at PlayCom 2025 will offer insights on leadership, resilience, and the broader lessons sports offer. He will explore how sporting values translate into business, life, and national culture. This theme is particularly relevant at a gathering that includes athletes, policymakers, and industry leaders.

The two-day summit will also cover topics such as investment, innovation, governance, and the growing role of sports in India’s economy. With support from the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, Tamil Nadu Champions Foundation, the Governments of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Odisha, and JK Tyre, PlayCom 2025 is poised to define the future of Indian sports on the global stage.
