Karnataka Triumphs: Mayank Agarwal Hails Comprehensive Victory Over Tamil Nadu
After savoring a victory from yet another clinical chase, Karnataka captain Mayank Agarwal described it as his team’s best all-around performance in the tournament.
The captain expressed great satisfaction with the bowlers’ efforts, particularly spinners Sreesha S. Achar and Shreyas Gopal, for restricting Tamil Nadu to a score of 288.
Despite Tamil Nadu putting the champions in a tricky spot at 136 for four, Mayank remained confident. “We bat deep, so I wasn’t worried when we were four down. Shrijith and Shreyas played according to the situation and met expectations. However, credit must be given to our spinners, Achar and Shreyas, who bowled exceptionally well in the middle overs. Abhilash Shetty was outstanding at the death. It was a perfect team win,” explained Mayank.
Wicketkeeper-batsman K.L. Shrijith, who contributed a crucial 77 runs, mentioned that their plan was to rotate the strike and capitalize on loose balls to play big shots. The Tamil Nadu bowlers frequently provided opportunities by delivering bad balls.
Shrijith enjoyed batting alongside Shreyas, who shared a similar approach. “We both have a similar playing style, and I enjoyed batting with Shreyas. Our strategy was to keep the scoreboard ticking with singles, play occasional big shots, and keep the target within 70 runs for the last 10 overs. We executed that plan perfectly,” said the wicketkeeper-batsman.
