ACC’s Mohsin Naqvi Awards Pakistan with U-19 Asia Cup 2025 Triumph

Mandhana's Heroics in Vain as England Triumphs Over India in 2025 Women's ODI World Cup

The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman, Mohsin Naqvi, presented the winner’s medals and trophy to Pakistan following their victory against India in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 final held on Sunday. Notably, no Indian representative was present at the trophy presentation ceremony. Ayush Mhatre accepted the runner-up cheque from Mirwais Ashraf, Chairman of the Afghanistan Cricket Board.

Mohsin Naqvi, who also holds the position of Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and is an interior minister in Pakistan’s government, previously made headlines when India reportedly declined to receive an award from him after the senior Asia Cup.

The presentation ceremony was delayed for over an hour because the Pakistan team initially refused to participate. Following this, Naqvi left the venue with the Asia Cup trophy, taking it to the ACC office in Dubai.

Meanwhile, the Indian team celebrated with the champion’s banner. In a humorous twist, captain Suryakumar Yadav carried an “imaginary” trophy, imitating Rohit Sharma’s slow walk from the previous year’s T20 World Cup final.

The issue was later addressed on the sidelines of an ICC meeting in Dubai, as the BCCI and Naqvi had not reached an agreement. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia stated to Sportstar in November that both parties would work together to resolve the deadlock as soon as possible.
