Clash of Titans: India vs. Pakistan in the U19 Asia Cup 2025 Final Showdown

Epic Faceoff: Young Titans Clash in U19 Asia Cup 2025 Finale

Eyeing an unprecedented 12th title, a dominant Indian team is set to affirm its superiority over arch-rival Pakistan in the Under-19 Asia Cup final at the ICC Academy this Sunday.

Led by Ayush Mhatre, the Indian Colts have been exceptional, winning all three Group A matches and finishing ahead of Pakistan, who suffered their only group-stage defeat against India—a decisive 90-run loss last Sunday.

India continued their winning streak by defeating Sri Lanka in the semifinals by eight wickets, while Pakistan reached the final by eliminating defending champions Bangladesh.

India’s journey to the final has been a testament to their well-rounded performance, with both their batters and bowlers coming together to form a cohesive unit.

In batting, India has displayed remarkable prowess, posting two 400-plus totals. The tournament has unveiled promising talents like 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu.

Teen sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi set the tone in the opening match against UAE, smashing a stunning 95-ball 171 as India amassed 433/6. Meanwhile, Kundu made history against Malaysia by scoring an unbeaten 209 off 125 balls, becoming the first Indian to achieve a double-century in Youth ODIs. Both players will aim for another stellar performance against Pakistan’s disciplined bowling.

India’s middle-order has shown resilience, stepping up when needed. Hyderabad’s Aaron George has been consistent, registering three consecutive half-centuries, managing the crucial middle overs with a strike rate above 100.

Supporting him is Vihaan Malhotra, offering a left-handed option and coming off a 61 not out against Sri Lanka. Adding depth is all-rounder Kanishk Chouhan, who has redefined the finisher’s role with a strike rate over 127 and taken crucial wickets, including 3/33 against Pakistan.

Leading India’s bowling attack is pacer Deepesh Devendran, who shares the top spot for most wickets in the tournament with Pakistan’s Abdul Subhan, each claiming 11 scalps. Deepesh’s impressive line and pace have been instrumental, particularly his standout 5/22 spell against Malaysia and his top-order dismantling against Pakistan.

Pakistan’s strength lies in their pace attack, with Subhan supported by left-armer Mohammad Sayyam and Ali Raza. Their spin options, Niqab Shafiq and Ahmed Hussain, add variety as they attempt to counter India’s formidable batting.

Pakistan’s batting remains inconsistent, a concern for captain Farhan Yousaf’s team, who are eager to overcome recent losses against India at this pivotal stage. Pakistan has been champions once in 2012 and runner-up twice since then.

Both teams are expected to maintain a no-handshake policy during the match, continuing the trend seen in past encounters.
