Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Phenomenal 171 Leads India to Victory Against UAE in U19 Asia Cup
Indian opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivered an exceptional performance by scoring 171 runs against UAE in the Under-19 Asia Cup opener in Dubai on Friday. The left-handed batsman reached his century in a remarkable 56 balls, hitting five fours and nine sixes along the way. At just 14 years old, Suryavanshi scored 171 off 95 balls, including nine fours and 14 sixes, before being bowled by spinner Uddish Suri while attempting a paddle sweep. He narrowly missed surpassing Ambati Rayudu’s record score of 177 for India in Youth ODIs, set in 2002.
This century marks Suryavanshi’s second hundred in Youth ODIs, following the 143 runs he scored against England in July earlier this year. Additionally, earlier this month, Suryavanshi made history in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy by becoming the youngest player to score a century in the tournament during a match between Bihar and Maharashtra.
The Asia Cup serves as a crucial preparatory event for the Indian team as they gear up for the Under-19 ODI World Cup in 2026.
