IND vs SA: Player Swaps as Burger and De Zorzi Miss Third ODI

IND vs SA: Key Player Changes Highlight Third ODI Absences

South Africa’s players, Nandre Burger and Tony de Zorzi, will miss the third One-Day International (ODI) against India on Saturday because of injuries.

Burger felt discomfort in his right hamstring while bowling during the second ODI on Wednesday, while de Zorzi experienced pain in his right hamstring area while batting, which forced him to stop during the run chase.

Both players underwent scans on Friday, which confirmed the seriousness of their injuries.

In a tweet from the Proteas Men, it was announced that both Burger and de Zorzi are ruled out of the upcoming match due to these injuries. The tweet states, “Proteas Men’s fast bowler Nandre Burger and batter Tony de Zorzi have been ruled out of the third One-Day International (ODI) against India on Saturday due to injury.”

De Zorzi will also miss the forthcoming five-match T20 International (T20I) series against India, which begins on Tuesday, December 9, and will be returning home. No replacement has been announced yet.

Adding to the team’s injury challenges, pacer Kwena Maphaka is not recovering as anticipated from a left hamstring injury and will be unavailable for the start of the T20I series, leading to his withdrawal from the team.

Lutho Sipamla has been called up to join the squad.
