Venkatesh Prasad’s Bid for KSCA Presidency Gains Momentum with Kumble and Srinath’s Endorsement

Roston Chase Blames Infrastructure Issues for West Indies' First Test Struggles Against India

Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has declared his candidacy for the president’s position in the upcoming Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) elections. The announcement took place in Bengaluru on Tuesday, where Prasad was backed by cricket legends Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath.

The KSCA elections are set for November 30.

“We have united because we believe in revitalizing Karnataka cricket,” Prasad said. “All Karnataka cricketers support this mission. Our aim is to restore the pride of M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, enhance infrastructure across the state, and develop a robust pathway for young players.”

Joining Prasad’s ‘Team Game Chargers’ are Sujith Somasundar (Vice President), Vinay Mruthyunjaya (Secretary), A.V. Shashidhar (Joint Secretary), and B.N. Madhukar (Treasurer), who have been nominated for other key positions.

Kumble expressed his desire to revive the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium’s former glory, which lost its right to host international matches following a stampede during the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s IPL celebrations.

“The stampede marked a dark chapter for us. While it can’t be erased, we can certainly work towards reclaiming Karnataka cricket’s glory,” Kumble remarked. He also noted his disappointment over the absence of Karnataka players in India’s victorious 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup squad.

Prasad will be running against K.N. Shanth Kumar, Director of The Printers (Mysore) Pvt. Limited, for the president’s role.
