West and North Zones to Battle Unbeaten in Senior Women’s T20 Trophy Showdown

On the fourth day of the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy, West Zone and North Zone maintained their unbeaten streaks with victories over East Zone and Central Zone, respectively, marking their third consecutive wins in the tournament.

In a stellar performance at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium in Sovima, Kiran Navgire shone with a quick-fire 48 runs off 23 balls, while her opening partner, Humairaa Kaazi, contributed a steady 50 off 44 deliveries. Their efforts led West Zone to successfully chase down a 135-run target against East Zone, securing victory with seven wickets in hand and four balls to spare.

Meanwhile, North Zone clinched a win against Central Zone, thanks to Shweta Sehrawat’s impressive 62 off 32 balls. They comfortably reached their target of 128 with six wickets in hand and 21 balls remaining at Sovima Cricket Ground.

Following these matches, West Zone and North Zone occupy the top two positions in the standings, each with 14 points from four matches.

Additionally, South Zone returned to form with a convincing 38-run victory over North East Zone at the Nagaland Cricket Stadium. South Zone set a formidable total of 149 for six in their 20 overs, led by S. Sajana’s unbeaten 31 off 15 balls. Their defense was bolstered by leg-spinner Asha Sobhana, who claimed three wickets for 11 runs in four overs, restricting North East Zone to 111 for seven.

As the tournament approaches its final phase, scheduled for Friday, West Zone and North Zone have secured their spots in the championship match, having established an insurmountable lead in the points table. The final round of league matches will be held on Wednesday.
