Key Players Arrive in Kolkata as India Gears Up for South Africa Test Opener
Four members of India’s Test squad, led by captain Shubman Gill, are set to arrive in Kolkata on Sunday evening alongside the entire South African team in preparation for the opening Test of the two-match series.
“Shubman Gill, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Axar Patel will be traveling directly from Brisbane to Kolkata. They are expected to check in by the evening,” a local team manager shared with PTI.
“The entire South African squad will also be checking in on Sunday.”
The rest of the Indian Test squad is scheduled to arrive in groups on Monday, with training set to commence on Tuesday.
The first Test against South Africa is slated to take place at Eden Gardens on November 14, followed by the second match in Guwahati on November 22.
India started the current World Test Championship cycle with a 2-2 draw against England in an away series and a 2-0 series victory over the West Indies at home last month.
