PCB Elevates Shan Masood to Consultant Role for International Cricket Management
On Friday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed Shan Masood, the current Test captain, as the Consultant of International Cricket and Players’ Affairs.
At 36, Masood has played in 44 Test matches, nine ODIs, and 19 T20Is, amassing 3,108 international runs, which includes six Test centuries.
“Shan has also led Pakistan in 14 Tests, including the recent two-match ICC World Test Championship series against South Africa,” stated the PCB on Friday.
“Under his leadership, Pakistan secured a 2-1 series victory over England last year, marking their first Test series win against England on home soil since 2005,” added the PCB.
This appointment is unprecedented, as it’s the first time an active Test captain has taken an administrative role within the PCB. Masood, who has been Pakistan’s Test captain since November 2023, debuted internationally in 2013.
It remains uncertain whether Masood will manage both roles simultaneously or eventually transition to a full-time consultant, stepping away from active cricket.
