Brad Evans set a new bowling record for Zimbabwe as the hosts took control on the first day of their one-off Test against Afghanistan at Harare Sports Club on Monday.
Afghanistan, after losing the toss, stumbled from 77-2 to being dismissed for 127, with Evans claiming five wickets and fellow right-arm pacer Blessing Muzarabani taking three.
Subsequently, an unbeaten 97-run second-wicket stand between Ben Curran (52 not out) and Nick Welch (49) helped Zimbabwe reach 130-2 at the close of play, securing a three-run lead with eight wickets in hand. READ FULL REPORT
