Shreyas Iyer Set to Captain India A in Multi-Day Series Against Australia A

Shreyas Iyer, who was not selected for the upcoming Asia Cup, will captain the India A team for the two multi-day matches against Australia A in Lucknow, starting September 16. The Mumbai-based batter will lead a squad that includes recent Test players like Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel, and Prasidh Krishna. In their previous engagement in England, India A was led by Abhimanyu Easwaran.

According to Cricbuzz’s latest report, Iyer has taken on a key role in these two matches for India A. Dhruv Jurel, part of the India A side during the England tour and the Oval Test, will serve as vice-captain. Standout domestic players Manav Suthar and Harsh Dubey have also been selected, along with Ayush Badoni, a notable performer in the Duleep Trophy, and wicketkeeper-batter N Jagadeesan, who impressed with a knock of 197 against North Zone just before the semifinal.
Meanwhile, KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj, missing from the Asia Cup squad, will join India A for the second match against Australia A starting September 23. This will serve as preparation for the Test series at home against West Indies, beginning October 2.
Following the multi-day fixtures, India A and Australia A will clash in three one-day matches scheduled for September 30, October 3, and October 5 in Kanpur.
