On Wednesday, the Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that Mymensingh Division will take the place of Dhaka Metro in the National Cricket League, the nation’s established first-class tournament, starting from October 25.

During the BCB Board’s 20th meeting on August 9, the decision was made to incorporate Mymensingh Division into the NCL for the first time.

“As a result, the Dhaka Metro team won’t be participating in the forthcoming competition,” stated the BCB in their announcement.

Additionally, BCB stated that to aid player preparation for future international red-ball engagements, and following suggestions from the BCB Cricket Operations, the event’s Technical Committee has sanctioned the use of Kookaburra balls for the first two rounds, with Dukes balls being used for the remainder.

The use of Kookaburra balls in the initial rounds will allow players to become accustomed to them, which is anticipated to ease their transition to international cricket.

The choice to employ Kookaburra balls is primarily to prepare players for Bangladesh’s upcoming Test series against Ireland next month, where the Kookaburra ball will be utilized in the two-Test series.

Bangladesh is set to face Ireland in two Tests and three T20Is in November, with the first Test commencing on November 11 in Sylhet, followed by the second on November 19 in Mirpur.

For the past three years, the BCB has employed Dukes balls in the eight-team first-class competition to encourage fast bowling.
