Rahul’s Half-Century Seals Series Sweep for India Against West Indies in 2nd Test

Rahul's Masterful 50 Secures India's Series Whitewash Over West Indies in 2nd Test

On the final day of the second Test, KL Rahul demonstrated patience and skill, achieving an unbeaten fifty (58 not out off 108 balls, including six fours and two sixes) to lead India to a seven-wicket victory over the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

Rahul signaled his intent from the start, commencing the day with a maiden over bowled by Jomel Warrican. The first run of the day came from Sai Sudharsan’s inside edge that trickled towards fine leg.

After India accumulated just three runs in the first four overs, Rahul injected the necessary momentum by stepping out and driving Warrican elegantly over long off. He continued with this aggressive strategy against Khary Pierre, hitting another six over long on.

Despite the West Indies setting an attacking field with close-in fielders, Rahul and Sudharsan remained composed. Sudharsan, however, fell short of a well-deserved half-century, edging a wider delivery from Roston Chase to slip, thanks to a spectacular one-handed catch by Shai Hope.

India’s intensity increased as Shubman Gill advanced down the track and struck a length ball from Chase over the sight screen. In the previous over, Rahul shifted his focus to square-on shots, pulling off a slog sweep against Warrican over midwicket.

Gill’s assertive play led to his downfall when he mistimed a slog, resulting in a catch at short midwicket by Justin Greaves.

Ensuring steady progress, Rahul indulged in a reverse sweep against Warrican shortly after reaching his fifty in 102 balls.

Dhruv Jurel, facing just six deliveries, opened his account with a stylish late cut past short third man off Chase. Ultimately, Rahul sealed the win by driving a length ball through mid on, wrapping up the game just 63 minutes after play began.
