BCB Officially Announces New Committees

The newly elected Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has officially revealed its standing committees’ members.

Aminul Islam, the President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, will helm the governing council of the Bangladesh Premier League. This decision was made during the initial board meeting, where responsibilities were distributed among the board directors who will steer operations for the next four years, following their success in the recent BCB election.

The BCB announced its new standing committees, which came as a surprise to some, as Vice President Faruque Ahmed was not included. The meeting took place at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

“There were no issues during the meeting; I left due to personal reasons,” Faruque told Cricbuzz. “I chose not to take a committee position as I prefer to ease back into responsibilities after returning to the board room. I am committed to contributing towards the advancement of cricket to the best of my ability,” he added.

Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, representing the board directors, announced the committee members in front of newly elected directors Shahnian Tanim, Abdur Razzak, Khaled Mashud Pilot, and Amjad Hossain.

Besides leading the BPL Governing Council, BCB President Aminul Islam will also chair the Working Committee and the Grounds Committee. Mithu will serve as the Member Secretary of the BPL Governing Council and also chair the Umpires Department.

Iftekhar announced the upcoming BPL’s schedule, confirming it will be held in the December-January window as usual. “One major decision is that we’re proceeding with the BPL within this timeframe,” Mithu stated.

Khaled Masud Pilot, a former national captain, will head the High Performance Unit, while former cricketer Abdur Razzak will lead the Women’s Wing. Iftekhar mentioned that the committee roles may evolve if there is an interest in switching. “Everyone accepted their roles enthusiastically, including myself,” he remarked.

Former captain Pilot emphasized teamwork among the 25 directors from diverse backgrounds, stating, “This is a team that works together, and the ideas in discussions come from all directions, not just from my departments.”

Earlier, Cricbuzz reported that NSC is aiming to appoint a female representative after Ishfaq Ahsan’s nomination was withdrawn, with Rubaba Dowla being a strong candidate for the position.
