Aminul Islam Secures Another Term as BCB President

Aminul Islam has been re-elected as the president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board after the election held at a city hotel on Monday, October 6. Former national captain Khaled Mashud has also been elected to the BCB board as one of the 23 directors.
Mashud, who captained Bangladesh during its early Test cricket days, secured 35 votes in the category reserved for former cricketers, government, and autonomous bodies (Category 3).
According to the returning officer, Dr. Sheikh Jubayed Hasan, 23 directors were elected based on three categories specified in the BCB constitution: 10 from district and division representatives, 12 from Dhaka clubs, and one from the former players’ category.
Following the election, the directors gathered at the hotel selected Aminul as their board president. Shakhawat Hossain and Faruque Ahmed were elected vice-presidents.
“Aminul Islam is elected unopposed as BCB president,” said the chief election commissioner, Mohammad Hossain, to reporters on Monday. There were two candidates, Mohammad Shakhawat Hossain and Faruque Ahmed, for the vice president positions.” He added that the aim was to conduct a fair election.
Out of the 156 eligible votes in the BCB election, 115 votes were cast, resulting in a voter turnout of 73.71%. This high participation rate signifies strong engagement across all categories, including district representatives, Dhaka clubs, and the former players’ category.

Ishtiaque Sadeque (42), Shanian Taneem Naveen (42), Faruque Ahmed (42), Amjad Hossain (41), Mehrab Alam Chowdhury (41), Moksedul Kamal (41), Adnan Rahman Dipon (40), Faizur Rahman (40), Abul Bashar Shiplu (40), Manjurul Alam (39), Nazmul Islam (34), Iftikhar Rahman Mithu (34).
Category 3: Former Cricketers/Government & Autonomous Bodies Quota:
Khaled Mashud (35).
Representatives from the National Sports Council, M. Isfak Ahsan and Yasir Mohammad Faisal Ashiq, have also joined the board.
