Dinesh Karthik to Lead India in Thrilling Hong Kong Sixes Showdown

Dinesh Karthik has committed to the Hong Kong Sixes. Following his recent agreement to play for the Sharjah Warriorz in ILT20, Karthik (40) will reunite with his former India and Tamil Nadu teammate R Ashwin, who previously announced his participation in the six-a-side tournament. Cricket Hong Kong, China, the organizers, have announced that Karthik will captain the Indian team.

“Leading Team India at the Hong Kong Sixes is a real honor, considering the event’s storied history and global prestige. I’m eager to lead this talented group of players, aiming to deliver exciting and fearless cricket to delight our fans,” Karthik commented. The tournament is scheduled from November 7 to 9.

“We are thrilled to have Dinesh as the captain of Team India for the Hong Kong Sixes 2025. His leadership and vast experience will greatly enhance the competition, and his involvement is sure to draw fans from all over the world to enjoy this vibrant cricket festival,” stated Burji Shroff, chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong China.

Twelve teams, including South Africa, Afghanistan, Nepal, Australia, England, UAE, India, Pakistan, Kuwait, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Hong Kong China, will compete in this three-day event. The teams are divided into four groups, with India and Pakistan notably grouped together in Group C.

The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals. Quarterfinal winners will advance to the Cup semifinals, while the losers will enter the Plate semifinals. The group’s bottom teams will participate in the Bowl competition. The event will feature 29 matches over the course of three days.

Each match will consist of six overs per side, with six players on each team. Every bowler, aside from the wicketkeeper, will bowl one over, except for one bowler who will bowl two overs. Sony Sports will broadcast the tournament.
