BCCI Voices Concerns Over Controversial Asia Cup Trophy Misstep

BCCI Criticizes Asia Cup Trophy Mishap: A Controversy Unfolds

During the Annual General Body Meeting of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) expressed a “strong objection” to the ACC’s decision not to award a trophy to India following the Asia Cup 2025 final, according to reports.

The incident occurred on Sunday when India declined to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, who serves as the ACC president, PCB chairman, and Pakistan’s Interior Minister.

Representing the BCCI at the AGM in Dubai were Vice-President Rajeev Shukla and former treasurer Ashish Shelar. Shukla reportedly questioned Naqvi regarding the absence of the trophy, although no resolution was achieved. The ACC’s Test-playing nations are expected to make a final decision on the matter.

The post-match events in Dubai turned chaotic, as Pakistani players delayed the trophy ceremony for over an hour after the match’s conclusion.

After the event ended, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav humorously carried an “imaginary” trophy, emulating Rohit Sharma’s slow walk from the previous year’s T20 World Cup final. The team continued the fun by staging mock trophy lifts for the fans and cameras, later moving their celebrations to the dressing room.

Several team members subsequently posted edited images of themselves holding a trophy on social media.
