Pakistan players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan have been reprimanded for breaching the code of conduct during the September 21 match against India in Dubai. The ICC hearing found both to have committed a Level 1 offence.

According to Cricbuzz, pacer Haris Rauf was fined for mimicking a crashing plane on the field, with a portion of his match fee being deducted. He received a strong reprimand for tarnishing the sport’s reputation.

Opener Sahibzada Farhan also committed a Level 1 offence and received a reprimand. During the match in which Pakistan lost by six wickets, Farhan celebrated his half-century by swinging his bat like a gun.

The charges against the two players were reported by the BCCI, which argued their actions violated the code prohibiting political statements on the field.

Rauf’s gesture was interpreted as a reference to India-Pakistan tension, symbolizing crashing fighter jets. Similarly, Farhan’s gun gesture signified hostilities between the nations.

The ICC hearing, led by Richie Richardson and Sally Higgins, included the participation of the two players and team manager Naveed Cheema.

In a separate session, the ICC reprimanded India captain Suryakumar Yadav for expressing support for the Pahalgam terror victims and the Indian Army, advising him against political comments.

The fierce rivalry between India and Pakistan has intensified in the ongoing Asia Cup, with India’s two consecutive victories. The two teams are set to face each other again in the final on Sunday, September 28.
