Former national left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak has confirmed to Cricbuzz that he resigned from his position on the selection panel to participate in the Bangladesh Cricket Board election set for October 6.

“I have stepped down from the selectors’ role to enter the BCB election,” Razzak stated after filing his nomination in category 1.

“Having served my country both as a player and a selector, I’m eager to embrace new challenges by joining the board of directors, if elected,” he added.

Razzak, who became a selector in January 2021, acquired the nomination form for the directors’ poll with an aspiration to represent the Khulna Division on the BCB board.

The election will see the selection of the president by 25 directors (12 from clubs, 10 from Division and District, two nominated by the NSC, and one from category three by other organizations’ representatives).

On September 26, the BCB Election Commission released the final list of 191 voters for the upcoming board of directors’ elections.

The final roster included councillors from 15 Dhaka-based clubs, initially excluded from the draft released on September 23, due to ongoing investigations by the Anti-Corruption Commission for irregularities.

The election commissioner also noted that the 15 clubs’ councillorship was approved as they have not yet been charged by the ACC.

Additionally, councillorships were approved for five districts—Sylhet, Bogura, Pabna, Sirajganj, and Naogaon—while Narsingdi district’s position remains unfilled.

Former BCB president Faruque Ahmed’s councillorship was also maintained, as the EC accepted his reason for late submission.

On September 25, the EC reviewed 38 objections regarding the draft voter list during hearings held at the BCB office.

Nomination forms for the board of directors’ election were made available starting Saturday at the BCB office, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with submission required by the following day, September 28.
